About Us

Welcome to Keller Lacrosse

Welcome to 2022 Class B HS Boys State Champions!

Keller Lacrosse is home to High School Men's and Youth Boy's Lacrosse.

Our mission is to help promote and grow the sport of lacrosse in this area by establishing and supporting lacrosse teams for the students in the Keller Independent School District (KISD) and neighboring areas who want to learn and participate in this sport.

Our goal is to develop leadership ability and foster team spirit among the athletes of the Association, promoting the development of the game of lacrosse in the community by providing an organized, respectful, safe, team-oriented program where players can learn the fundamentals of lacrosse, develop the skills to be competitive in lacrosse, build the characteristics of good sportsmanship and strong character, and promote fundraising to ensure sound financial responsibility of the organization.

We are a non-profit 501(C)(3) youth sports association.

Keller Lacrosse offers teams for grades K-12.

What teams are fielded by Boys Keller Lacrosse?

Our boys play in the (THSLL) Texas High School Lacrosse League in the 'Class A ' bracket. Our Youth and Bantam play in the (DFWL) Dallas Fort Worth Lacrosse League.  Keller Lacrosse offers high school teams for grades 9th-12th, youth teams, grades 5 - 8th, as well as Bantam teams K-2. Bantam & youth teams are divided up by grades: K/1/2, 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8. High School teams are divided into Varsity and Junior Varsity. The number of teams and the level of the teams are dependent on the number of players registered and the level of the players. For girls’ lacrosse, which is a separate organization please visit www.kellergirlslacrosse.com

My son has never played lacrosse before. What's the best way to get started?

Depending on the time of year, opportunities may be right around the corner or a few months away. In either case, we can try to create opportunities for your new LAXer to fall in love with the sport. In general, we try to offer at least one free intro camp as well as inexpensive clinics in the Fall. Continue to monitor this website for updated information on Summer clinics, Fall and Spring registration.

Is it too late for my Son to learn to play?

It's never too late to learn lacrosse. Your Son should expect to work hard. They will get plenty of help and support, but the more work they put into it, the more they will get out of it. Younger teams try to provide "fair rotation" play but merit builds with time. JV/Varsity is more competitive and players should expect to have to "earn their spot" and contribute consistently in practice and games.

Does my player need to tryout to be on a team?

Yes and No. For the younger players (Grades K-4), the teams are we split equally by age group after coaches’ looks in January. For Grades 5-8 teams are sorted by grade level.

HS is Class A level within THSLL.  The players will tryout in January and be placed on a team according to their level of play either JV or Varsity. HS is considered more competitive. Players may be moved up or down based on practice/game day performance, or position needs of the HS teams, or the players efforts, as decided by the HS coaches. HS has no guaranteed playing time.

When does the Lacrosse season begin?

  • Youth Players:

The Spring season for grades K-8 typically start in January and run through the final weekend in April/first weekend in May. Practices for all Youth players typically begin the first week of January. The goal is to play at least 8-10 regular season games for all grade groups.

Grades K/2 and 3/4 do not have playoffs. Grades 5/6 and 7/8 can expect an additional 1-4 playoffs games during the final weekend. As with any sport played outdoors the weather can play a significant factor in the number of games we are able to play.

  • High School Players:

The Spring season usually begins a little earlier in January with one or two preseason tournaments and can run a little deeper into May depending on THSLL regional playoffs.

Lacrosse is primarily a Spring sport but Keller Lacrosse does have year-around activities for those interested.  Just check back on our website for news and notices.

How many practices a week can my player expect?

  • Bantam grades K-4 can expect 1-2 practices per week
  • Youth grades 5-8 can expect 2-3 practices per week
  • High School players can expect to have 4-5 practices per week

Practice days depend a lot on the Head Coach's schedule. Early in the season practice is driven by daylight and lighted field availability.  High School will have practice on weekday evenings on lighted fields (when available). Our home practice field is Keller Sports Park for our Bantam and Youth Teams and Vista Ridge Middle School for our Junior Varsity and Varsity Teams.

When do I register my player?

Spring registration typically starts online in October. Fall clinic and program registration starts in August.

What are the costs to register?

Our fees are dictated by the costs to our program including general operational expenses. KLA tries to keep the registration costs as competitive possible while providing a great experience for our players at all levels. KLA tries to offset the costs with annual fundraisers and accepting donations as we are a registered nonProfit 503c Corp. Our registration fees cover field rental costs, insurances, website, referees, sports trainers, coaching, all field equipment (i.e. goals, lax balls, nets, etc..)

Membership through USA Lacrosse is required or all players (and coaches) at all ages. Cost is approx $50 per year and USA Lacrosse membership will need to extend thru May 31st for the season. Fall and Spring Registration fees are different and are itemized during registration for the season. We have traditionally offered a multi player (sibling) discount, and early registration discounts for Spring only.

Refund policy

For Spring season KLA must make our league payments to both DFWL and THSLL in early January, including other operational payments for the season, as a result no refunds are issued past Feb.1st for Spring. If a season ending medical injury occurs, KLA can apply current payment as a credit towards the next Spring season registration.

What equipment does my player need?

All players need equipment consisting of a stick, helmet, shoulder pads, arm pads/guards, gloves, an EKG Rated chest protector, cup, and mouthpiece. Boys’ youth kits with helmet and stick are around $100-$250.

If you are new to the KLA program please contact your Division Director. An available jersey # MUST BE assigned to your Son, prior to ordering your Keller Lacrosse uniform, do NOT pick a number.  If you have left KLA program and are returning after being gone for one year , also contact our Uniform Director for a new jersey # Please see our Uniform

Please see the equipment list under programs.  Uniforms are available for purchase when you register for each new season.

All equipment mentioned must be worn to participate in any Keller Lacrosse clinics, practices, and games.

I don’t live in the Keller ISD area. Can my child still play for Keller?

For grades K-8, if you live in the Keller ISD boundary, or the closest (DFWL) DFW Lacrosse League program is Keller Lacrosse, then yes you can play for Keller. For HS, anyone attending Keller High School can play. If you live outside of the KISD boundary in a school district that does not offer lacrosse and Keller Lacrosse is closest program to you, then you can play for Keller but only for the K-8th grade teams. There are further (THSLL) divisions based rules on the high school your player is zoned for.  Please share your address with the appropriate Age Director and we can verify your eligibility.
